Oh-bla-dee, oh-bla-dah, life goes on....

There's nothing that will give you a greater sense of the impermanence of things than kids. One moment, it's four a.m. and two kids are sick and you're scrambling to get the right dose of medicine and wondering how you'll make it to six a.m. without collapsing, and the next thing you know, your kids are applying their own temporary tattoos and making their own sandwiches and your baby is trying to do things like color and throw a ball and drive cars on the floor while making a zooming sound. For real. Kids remind me that I'm also getting older, although since I really don't have time/inclination to look in the mirror, I have no idea how that looks. Probably better that way.

Winter in Miami has been lovely, and the kids love being able to walk to the playground and not be so hot. The other side to winter in Miami, however, is the cold virus. that seems to be targeting us more than usual. At any given point over the past four weeks, two to three out of the Morillo five has been suffering from some stage of yet another cold. Reni and Roman are the most vocal complainers, and have done a great job keeping the rest of us from sleeping.

OH, and speaking of things that make me sleep deprived, Anika announced that she now has a boyfriend. She and Damian hold hands, play together, and apparently he even kissed her on the playground.

Say wha?! I think I know where we are getting the cold viruses from, people.

We've been doing lots of art projects and reading about things like geography (Reni's current passion) and chemistry (Anika's new interest, after asking me one night how glitter markers are made).

Here is "a guy," by Reni:

And here is Anika's magical bird, complete with a glowing beak "so it can find its nest in the dark."

And here is a photo of Ani and Roman, who have such a special bond. She is really his favorite person of all time.

And here are a few videos from a few weeks ago (I think? Between the sleep deprivation and kissing colds, can't really keep track of time that well these days). The first is my little fish doing what she loves best - she would stay all day in the pool if we let her - and the second is Reni at Gym class doing his favorite thing.
