The grandparents were just here for a visit, and the kids had some interesting tidbits to share with Grandpa.
Walking to pick up Anika, Reni says, "I remember your farm, Grandpa. Do you remember how I used to play with your tractor? Remember that? Now I just have to play with regular stuff."
Talking about how our bodies would get injured in an accident as we are riding in a car and discussing the importance of seat belts: "Yeah, Grandpa, because our hearts are fragile. Just like Roman's head."
Reni, spotting a yellow Kia like the one we have in Wisconsin: "Look, Grandpa! A yellow Ikea!" (this reminds me of how he used to call their dog, Roscoe, "Costco," because it was a more familiar name to him).
Anika and Grandpa walking to the local cafe, passing by a mattress store. Anika tells Grandpa that he should get a new mattress. Grandpa says they are expensive. "No they're not - they are free!" Anika says, pointing to a sign that says "free delivery."
This morning, getting ready for school, Reni says, "Why did Grandpa and Grandma have to go? I miss Grandpa. I think they should buy a house here next to our apartment."
Indeed, buddy. Indeed.
