But....why?

It's crazy but true: as Gretchen Rubin has observed, the days are long but the years are short.

This is an especially poignant motto for parenthood. Our little surprise baby boy is now a walking, giggling, goofing, snuggling one year-old whose new favorite words are cookie, banana, blueberries, and "go-go-go!"

And our little brown-skinned, blonde-haired, tutu-wearing girl is speeding into the preschool room without so much as a look back (the teachers informed me that last Thursday she was 'silly and giggling the entire time"), has graduated from Sesame Street to Super Why, and just this weekend started asking 'but....why?' and 'why, mama?' when I tell her something.

Somebody had better make my days shorter and my years a bit longer, or else they'll be teenagers by next year.
