RIP, Mullet
Anika got her first haircut yesterday, courtesy of her bestie's grandma - or just "gramma," as Anika calls her (don't worry, Mom, she knows the difference between this particular gramma and HER grandma; I think she probably thinks you guys both have the same name, and that name is Gramma).
It was about time, as her hair seems to sprout from one place in the back and just grows down or forward from there, resulting in an unfortunate comb-over effect in the front and mullet in the back. Guess my hair used to grow the same way. Lovely.
Anyway, Ani was playing over at Chez Gramma when she actually let her put in a ponytail and said "yes!" when asked if she wanted a haircut. It was mostly a trim, truly, as there still isn't much hair to deal with. But she looks so grown-up, and even sat still to have the bangs and ends curled with a straight iron. We had to bribe her with a bag of chips, but still - all in all, she was pretty psyched about the whole thing. In fact, when she woke up this morning, I commented on her hair and she said, "Gramma cut. Anika pretty. YEEEESSSS."
