Hiiiiii, When-uh!

That would be Anika's greeting to Reni. She mimics our baby talk and for some reason calls him When-uh, even though she can pronounce Reni when prompted to do so. Guess she's given him a little nickname of sorts.

Here they are playing while I was doing dishes the other morning. Anika discovered she can play peek-a-boo with him, and he's just enthralled by this interesting being that is both like him and un-like him.

Also, this little guy has mastered two other skills: sitting up, and spitting up. If you prop him in the boppy or his car seat or his bouncy seat, he actually tries to sit upright rather than recline. He has one ridiculously strong neck. And some good spit-up action, too, which I hadn't realized happened until after snapping these shots of him sitting up. He's the quicker spitter-upper, this one.

(Note that although Armando is holding Reni's neck, Reni is perfectly capable of sitting upright by himself with limited amounts of bobble -- daddy can be a wee bit overprotective at times. Not that I have the moral high ground on this one, believe you me. On my watch, our daughter took a faceplant on cement and nearly had her finger swallowed by a turkey. And Reni has been smothered by his sister more times than I care to count when I knew I shouldn't be setting him near her like bait. Worse thing that happens when Mando watches them is that I come home to a baby full of spit-up and Anika with half her clothes off and nutella all over her face, looking much the part of a yuppie street urchin -- if there were such a thing, of course.)
