Reni has a few characteristics that are uniquely him. First, he has this little chin quiver -- sometimes accompanied by chattering teeth, as when we are giving him his bath, but most often just to tug at my heart strings if he is asking to nurse or if I lift him up too quickly from a comfortable position.
Also, he wants to be BIG. He is ginormous for a baby his size (three-month outfits are now too snug), granted, but he wants to be big like his sister. He is always craning his neck to get a good look at her, and even smiled and coo'd at her yesterday (say it with me: awwww). This morning, during our only alone time while the sun rises and I try to get the coffee directly into my system as quickly as possible, he was trying to chat a bit with me and holding his head up and pushing against me with his legs as I stood him up. He is a strong one, this guy.
And he has the coolest hair ever. Go figure, my daughter was bald forever and now has this wispy blonde tuft, but the boy gets the thick dark hair. (His eyelashes, curiously, are blonde, while Anika's are dark, so I guess the jury is still out on final hair color for both kiddos).
It's no wonder he wants to be big: he has a great role model (who, btw, likes to scale everything...the crib, the table, the ladder if we leave it out like the idiots that we are...today, while giving Reni a bath, Anika actually pulled a drawer out and stood in there to get a better look. Ingenious, yes. Dangerous, definitely. Good thing she's so light that there is no danger of the drawer bottom breaking).
Those kids are so cute! Reni seems like he has changed so much! I can't believe how quickly new babies grow. I need to meet that boy. And Anika's eyes never cease to amaze me. She's beautiful. Love you!
