Break on Through to the Other Side

After three full months of teething, we finally have some razory bits of tooth peeking through on Anika's lower left gum.  It wasn't there, and then suddenly, it was.  And I swear there are moments when it's gone again, playing some sort of a dental game of peek-a-boo that seems really really really unfair.  To top it off, poor Anika is drooling so much it's like she's been taken out of the freezer and is slowly defrosting before our eyes.

It's a good thing she is good at distracting herself.  I've decided that she's most like a little kitten, making a game out of everything and anything she sees.  Boxes, bags, TV remotes, laptops and anything resembling a knife, flame or dangerous chemical ignites a sparkle in those round baby browns and she lunges, grabs, bats, chews and kicks just like a kitten.

On the crawling front, she has figured out how to move quite deftly without having grasped the whole concept.  To whit:  chubby arms supporting body, check.  Diapered bum in air: check.  Tummy off carpet: check (that one happened today!) Chunky little toes curled under:  check (this one also happened today!)  Knees bent:  half-check.  This last slight deficiency means that she's kind of like a canoe without a rudder, and goes more in a circle than a straight line when she's trying to move toward something. Nine times out of ten, however, she just wiggles forward like a worm and is at her desired destination before you can say, hey now not the wine glass!
