Sunshiny Day

It's another sleep-deprived morning, my coffee is down to the dregs and I'm wishing I hadn't imposed a one-cup-a-day-while-nursing quota.  But at least the bitter cold that has characterized winter thus far has left us for awhile; it's going to hit the mid-50s today and the sun is shining in a friendly, blue-skies kind of way.  I'm thinking it's time to take Anika out for her first official stroll around the neighborhood.  We may even make it all the way to the nearby Giant, where I will purchase more diapers and wipes (tip to those contemplating parenthood: buy stock in Proctor & Gamble or whoever makes Pampers and the like, as I promise you it will pay off.  This kid goes through at least 10 diapers a day.  We can practically hear the cash register ding every time she farts) and perhaps some food for our refrigerator.  Lately it's held mostly moldy leftovers and pizza.  So much for eating healthfully while nursing.

Anika is snoozing (and lightly snoring....she won't think it's cute when I tell her when she's 11, but I sure find it endearing) in her Ergo at the moment, and I've got the iPod playing some classics (Tom Petty, who knew your songs were the bomb when it comes to babies?  She was all wide eyes and smiles as I belted out "Freefalling" this morning).  I'm trying to remember when my Fridays were all about planning happy hours and looking forward to weekends of yoga and slightly hungover brunches while grumbling through more pointless meetings and writing piles of BS memos.....wow, seems like a lifetime ago.  While devouring more pizza and chicken wings last night, Armando and I half-watched this special on the Science channel about time travel and the space-time continuum and black holes and the like, and I couldn't help but think that time is warped for all of us, not just those who hypothetically travel through space.  I know that it will only be a blink or two before Anika is running around in tight jeans and short skirts and yelling that we are "SOOO unfair!" and generally scaring us sh*tless.

For now, however, I'm just happy to have this little snoring peanut snuggled next to me.

Post-bath baby....is there anything sweeter?
