Skipping along

Time continues at warp speed, and the littles aren’t so little anymore. I spotted a superhero doing circles around the backyard a week ago and tried to take a video, but as soon as he noticed me he decided to hide his superpowers and beg to watch YouTube instead.

Anika’s PE teacher (a legend at the school who is referred to simply as ‘Coach’) stopped me after school a few weeks ago and said that Anika was very talented at jump rope and would she like to join his competitive jump roping team? (It’s an actual thing, guys. Who knew?) We skipped right to the store and bought a jump rope, and my little athlete went right to work:

If I has a video of my middle child, it would be a recording of the conversation I had with the district psychologist, who sat with me and a bevy of other teachers, counselors and school administrators to talk about Reni’s IQ test and his placement in the gifted program. The psychologist smiled and shook her head when she explained that of all the kids in all the schools throughout all the years she had never seen a mind that worked quite like Reni’s does. ‘This boy is brilliant,’ she told the room, as his teacher nodded her head in agreement.
