Reni had a classmate's birthday party yesterday, and he was so excited to go just mama and Reni. It was at a local park and in true Miami style didn't get started until an hour and a half after the time listed on the invite. The birthday girl, Emily, was in Reni's VPK class last year and used to write him little notes that I'd occasionally find in his backpack.
When I introduced myself, Emily's father gushed, "Oh, Reni is Emily's favorite! I hate to say it, because they're so young, but she has a crush on him. It used to be Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid, but now it's Reni."
Laughing, her mom added, "Yeah, she told me, 'Mom, he is my best friend but I also think I want to marry him.'"
Emily also reported back to her mom that she did, indeed, admit to this crush a few months ago, telling Reni "I think I love you." To which Reni apparently responded, "WHY?!!?!?!?"
