So to the park we went yesterday, and while Anika took a little snooze, Reni banged his heels against the stroller and demanded, "park! park! Out! Out!"
He got a few minutes of mom's full attention before Anika woke up, and then she wanted to swing and he wanted to go feed the ducks. Because they usually run off in opposite directions, I was only able to take a few short videos - but seeing as there's not much else going on here at the moment (we chose to live here because it's boring and safe, I keep reminding myself, and also no snow and this piercingly blue New Mexican sky that contrasts with the brown of the trees and the mountains as if we lived in a painting), here are the reminders that I have some of the cutest kids out there (not biased at all here!):
There he is running off to find the duck pond again, and that's when we discovered that ducks REALLY like quesadillas. I didn't take any video, as cute as it was, because had I let go of Reni, chances are he'd have inadvertently fed himself to the swarm of cheese-loving ducks.
The only other thing we've got going on right now is Reni's new obsession with being naked. I recall Anika going through this phase, too, so I'm not going to worry about any possible Magic Mike moments in my son's future. What I do want to remember is how ridiculously cute he looks when he tugs at his clothes and demands, "off!" and then grins like the Cheshire Cat when you oblige. Then he takes off like a shot, bouncing around the house and suddenly resembling something out of a Michelangelo fresco.
The other day both kids raided the entryway closet while I was getting ready and burst into my bathroom wearing nothing but wellies, knit hats, and huge grins. Apparently donning one's birthday suit is catching.
