Pumpkin song

It's finally fall here in New Mexico - the Cottonwoods make a colorful ribbon along the Rio Grande, the sun is finally setting at our ridiculously early bed times, and our noses are a bit itchier and sneezier. We have also contracted our first virus since Anika started preschool, and the whole family got in on the viral stomach fun.

Meanwhile, Reni continues to expand his vocabulary - my current favorites are milk (with an emphasis on the K), map (with an emphasis on the P and in reference to Dora the Explorer), ba-pa (pacifier), puppy - arf! [panting noise], and "I want this," exclaimed almost as an interrogative but with a definite object in mind. He also tried to say "orange" today, but it came out like banana ("ba"). He is also attempting to jump, which is nothing less than hilarious to watch. He looks like someone about to launch off the ski jump, and bounces around a bit; then he casts a smile back at you and squats down to a seat. He also loves Mickey and Minnie mouse, and will not carry around his Mickey without having Minnie in the other hand. Kind of like when he eats chips or pretzels or taquitos - he has to have one in each hand.

Anika is working on her music skills. Tonight she decided to play the piano and sing, first a few classics and then one of her own creation, which she on-the-spot dubbed as "The Pumpkin Song." If you can stand it (Adele she is not), here are a few clips of our impromptu concert this evening:

ps - she is wearing one of her dress-up princess dresses because she peed through two outfits today. We are not quite there in the potty-training department despite our mantra that we "do not pee on Dora" (because, of course, she has Dora underpants).
