Meet the Preschool Day

We toured Anika's preschool classroom (the 'Brown Bears' room -- which I found fitting, since my most beloved toy growing up was named Brown Bear) on Friday, and once again she did not want to go home with me. Eventually, bribed with chocolate and the promise of playing at her friend's house, she did leave, and they also left us parents with a survey to return on the first day of school.

For posterity, here are some bits and pieces of that survey:

Q: How would you describe your child's personality?
A: Silly, happy, adventurous, curious, energetic, loves to figure out how things work, social butterfly, loves to dance and play outside, constantly on-the-go

Q: Do you have any special concerns about your child?
A: She has a hard time sitting still. When she gets frustrated, she sometimes screams or pushes; sometimes she also swipes toys from other, smaller kids (read: her baby brother)

Q: What activities does your child enjoy?
A: swimming, going to the park, story time, talking on the phone, dancing, playing ballerina, soccer and catch, games (alphabet, numbers, shapes, Spanish), playing outside, climbing, painting and drawing, and being silly

Q: What does your child find fascinating?
A: Other kids; slides and play houses; tools and mechanical things; anything she can take apart; stickers; building things; little babies

Q: What are your hopes/dreams/goals for this year in preschool?
A: That she gains a lot of new friends and experiences, acclimates to a school environment, becomes potty trained, learns a lot and, above all, has fun.
