Oooh-weeee!

Ani has taken to running around the house calling out "ooooh-weee! ooooh-weee!" at no one in particular. It is really cute, and much less annoying then when she follows me around whining because I can't get her peanut butter toast ready fast enough or because I am too slow getting out the door what with all the gear, snacks and toys we tote with us wherever we go and she wants to be at the park, like, TEN MINUTES AGO MOM.

She gives me daily near-heart attacks thanks to her uncanny ability to climb just about everything combined with her total lack of fear. She can push a chair or stool up to something and climb up the height of several of her own body lengths within seconds, and at the park she is always on the big kid slide -- you know, the one that is waaaaay up high and requires multiple levels of stairs and bridges to get to and that is too narrow for my current girth. She has no choice but to get down herself, and she usually does, headfirst and smiling.

She is suddenly and entirely infatuated with babies as well, from her baby dolls to videos of babies on YouTube to "baby" rocks and "baby" grapes and "baby" Goldfish crackers. Everything is "baby," even the bath barbie that I bought her after a rough day who has features much more grown up than most of us will ever dream of having. Anyway, this baby infatuation could be a good or bad thing when the actual real baby arrives.

And speaking of babies, she is rapidly accelerating away from being a baby. Within the past few weeks she has decided that she absolutely loves watching videos on our phones -- her favorites involve Elmo, which I guess is better than Dora -- and she tries to sing along with the ABCs, which is impossible to watch without giggling and goading her on even further.

She has also decided that she no longer wants the high chair nor does she want us touching her utensils. She has to do it herself. The other morning, she asked for yogurt and then promptly turned away when I offered it to her. I went to pour myself some coffee and turned around to see this:

Here she is this afternoon eating taquitos in her new "big girl" seat:

And watching yet another Elmo video:
