Baby Steps

Anika can walk!!

Well, sort of.  At this point it's still a party trick, as she doesn't view it as a way to get around but rather something to do when she feels like hearing "YAY!!!" and clapping and grinning and feeling overall pleased with herself.  But she can legitimately take a few steps without holding onto anything.

The first time we saw this was on Saturday night, as she took a few stumbling steps between the couch and bed in our bedroom.  Today we were in the laundry room and she stepped from one end to the other, to peer into the washing-machine bin (I swear it's only a matter of time before she is fast enough to climb in there before I can stop her) and didn't do near as much stumbling as before.  She's still very uneasy on her feet but I have a feeling it's a matter of weeks, not months, before she's toddling around.

This fact both thrills me and scares me sh**less, but I will bet you that Armando has already ordered soccer cleats.
