It's official - we're under contract on a great house in the cutest neighborhood in Albuquerque!
Now, of course, I'm probably jinxing the whole shebang by just writing about it, but we are so psyched about the prospect of finally having a place to call home that I feel like shouting it from the rooftops. Heck, I am just psyched to have a rooftop of our own soon.
At any rate, this of course means that it's back to the haggling with insurance brokers and trying to find a storage facility that we will happily pay to keep all of our stuff for us while we go through the process of closing on the house. Appraisal, inspection, final final loan approval - all of that is still ahead of us, and there's a lot that could go wrong. We won't count the place as our own until we've got the keys in our hands and are driving up to the front door, but that hasn't stopped us from dreaming. Armando has been to Home Depot to look at flooring to replace the god-awful blue that is currently carpeting the place. I have already picked out paint colors, altho I'm not looking forward to scraping 1980s wallpaper for days on end. And I can already picture Anika toddling around the backyard. Not that she's toddling yet, of course, but you get the picture. I. Just. Cannot. Wait.
But life is funny sometimes, because of course waiting (and nail-biting) are all that's left here. We don't close until June 25, so we have considerable time to daydream and fret and try not to screw anything up as we plan yet another move. At least this time it's only a seven hour drive.
Good luck! That sounds so exciting. Jim's brother lives in Albuquerque - I've only been there once but it is beautiful. Now we will have to plan another trip there for sure.
